
Troops Of 63 Brigade Nigerian Army Intercepts 15,000 litres Of Illegally Refined Oil In Delta State
In a significant operation, troops of 63 Brigade/ Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe intercepted two tipper trucks carrying approximately 15,000 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in Sapele, Delta State on 17 Aug 2025.
The operation, led to the arrest of three suspects: Kadiri Yakubu, 45; Lawrence Ositigei, 30; and Martin Paul, 20. The suspects, along with the trucks, were taken into custody for further investigation.
The trucks, registered as BEN 634-XG and MUSL-833XC, were found carrying a total of 8,500 cellophane bags of the illicit fuel. The 90 Amphibious Battalion under 63 Brigade swift in to action and scores its commitment combating economic sabotage and illegal oil bunkering activities in the region.
The suspects and the seized products have been transferred to the 90 Amphibious Battalion headquarters for further investigation, The military’s efforts in tackling oil theft and related crimes continue to yield positive results.
The Commander of 63 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier General MA Shonibare, commended the troops for their professionalism and assured the public of the military’s commitment to ensuring peace and security in Delta State.
