
UN OCHA Seeks Sustained Collaboration With Operation Hadin Kai
The Head of Office United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) Nigeria, Mr Trond Jensen, has sort for sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces, particularly Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in carrying out its activities in the North East.
Mr Jensen made the passionate appeal on 10 July 2025, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East OPHK, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar at the headquarters Theatre Command Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri. Mr Trond further sort for intervention of OPHK in providing military security to its staff, for easy delivery and efficient distribution of humanitarian services to the affected areas in the North East region.
He assured the Nigerian military, that he will ensure no items meant for the vulnerable, end up in the hands of the bad elements of the society.
In his response, the Theatre Commander Major General Abubakar, assured the UN OCHA of continued military support and collaboration, to ensure their smooth operations.
General Abubakar while highlighting the significance of services provided by humanitarian organisations, reiterated that kinetic lines of efforts amount to 30 percent, while non-kinetic takes 70 percent. He therefore, commended the UN OCHA for the humanitarian services they have continued to render in the North East.
He further used the medium to appreciate UN OCHA for providing training support to the Nigerian military troops, thereby expanding troops’ capacity and efficiency. He added that he was pleased with the organization, for prioritizing its services to the most vulnerable areas, in the face of daunting financial commitments
