Under My Leadership, AFN Will Continue To Sustain Its Operational Tempo and Posture Across Military Deployments – CDS
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa has said the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to sustain its operational tempo and posture across military deployments both at home and abroad. He disclosed this on Thursday, 26 December 2024 while delivering his Christmas Address at his Luncheon with the troops of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) at Giginya Cantonment, Sokoto.
The CDS further said the season reminds us of the enduring values of love, hope, unity, and selflessness that troops of Armed Forces of Ngeria and other security agencies exemplify daily in the service to our beloved nation. He extended his heartfelt appreciation to troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria, particularly in their deployment to OPFY.
General Musa stated that despite the inherent challenges, their daily commitment to duty in the field remains a source of inspiration and further exemplifies the true spirit of patriotism required for defeating the threats to our nation’s peace and stability. He further stressed that the recent deployment of the Special Operations Brigade and some combat enablers to dislodge and eliminate the re-emergence of Lakurawas’ terrorists from their camps in Sokoto and Kebbi states, and successes so far achieved as testament to the commitment to resolving and combating all security threats across the theatres of operations.
He urged the troops to remain steadfast and resolute in their responsibilities, noting that the coming year presents an opportunity to make significant progress in overcoming the challenges confronting our nation and need to strive to ensure that the coming year is marked by transformative victories in all the operational theatres. He therefore assure them of his necessary support and resources to carry out their tasks effectively. He used the occasion to visit the Wounded-in-Action troops at the 8 Division Military Services and Hospital, and also honour and remember the comrades who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
Earlier in his Welcome Address and while appreciating the CDS, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 OFPY, Major General Ibikunle Ajose said the event underscores unflinching support and commitment of the CDS to the welfare, morale, and operational efficiency of the troops, stressing that his frequent visits to the theatre to assess troops’ operational readiness and performance as well as their well-being is an indication of the passion and love he has for the troops and his desire to end insecurity in the Northwest Region in particular and Nigeria at large.
The event was attended by the Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, Representative of His Eminence Sultan of Sokoto, and Heads and Representatives of various Security Agencies in Sokoto State among others.
