We Appreciate Functional Synergy With NTA, GOC Restates, Commissions Signature Projects In Port Harcourt Barracks
The outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Jamal Abdussalam has expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for the functional synergy that existed between the organisation and the Divsion, throughout his sojourn in 6 Division. He expressed this appreciation, today Wednesday 22 January 2025, when the Zonal Director, NTA, Port Harcourt Network Centre, Dr (Mrs) Evelyn Nwosu led members of her management team on a farewell visit at the Division’s Headquarters, Port Harcourt Barracks.
Speaking further, the GOC said the Divsion and NTA are good partners, working along different functional lines for the common good of the society. The Division, he said, has benefitted immensely from the partnership, adding that this is evident in the way the NTA covered the Division’s activities, both locally and nationally. He further said that the wide coverage has exposed the Division’s activities to the world. It has also helped to enlighten the people around on what the Division is doing in the fight against illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism.
Earlier, the Zonal Director, Mrs Nwosu, said she was at the Division to bid the GOC farewell for being supportive to the NTA Network Centre, Port Harcourt. She pointed out that the level of support they enjoyed from the Division was incredible. She further added that this informed her decision to ensure that NTA prioritized stories about the Division, by ensuring that it goes beyond Port Harcourt. She said the Division’s support in keeping their environment clean earned the Centre many awards. “We have come back to say thank you for all you have done for us,” she said.

Shortly after the visit, the GOC commissioned a couple of signature projects executed under his command. He maintained that as part of activities for handling and taking over, he commissioned Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, 6 flats officers Transit Accommodation, 150 meters road named after the Chief of Army Staff and the remodeled, newly reconstructed mascot of the Division.
While commissioning the road projects, the GOC further remarked that the newly constructed 150-meter road was done to create accessible roads to the occupants of the area. He stressed that in the NA, there are specific animals adopted as mascots, adding that 6 Division NA mascot is the Python. The adoption of Python as mascot in the Division was because of its inherent characteristics, which the Division seeks emulate. He added that unveiling the newly constructed divisional mascot was meant to showcase to those who visit the importance of the characteristics of the Python to the Division.
