We Are Committed To Corrupt-Free Nation – Magu

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has again reiterated the Commission’s avowed commitment of zero tolerance to corrupution.

He said that corruption was the reason for the woes bedevilling the country adding that the Commission would stop at nothing in ensuring that the malaise was reduced to the bearest minimum, if not totally wiped out.

The EFCC boss gave this assurance at a book launch on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Yar’ Adua Centre, Abuja.

The book entitled “Corruptionism: The Highest Level of Capitalism”, was authored by Aliyu Abutu of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja. 

Magu, who spoke through Samin Amaddin, Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the EFCC, said the EFCC believed in community ownership of the fight as the Commission alone cannot win the war.

“We want to use this opportunity to assure every Nigerian that the battle against corruption is not ours alone in the EFCC. It is for every citizen of this country, to contribute in any little way you can to the fight, so that we can take back our country from the brick of collapse and bring it back to glory”, he said. 

While congratulating the publisher of the book, the anti-graft czar, called on all Nigerians to join the EFCC in its efforts to rid the nation of corruption. 

Speaking at the event, Professor Yusuf Ali Zoaka, Head, Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Abuja, who represented the Univeristy’s Vice Chancellor, called on Nigerians to support the current administration’s efforts in the war against graft, stressing that it is the only way to victory.

According to him, “it is one of our responsibilities as citizens to draw the attention of government when we see something that is wrong”

He said the book would enlighten the public on the various aspects of corruption and how it could be overcome.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of Award of Excellence to Magu.
