‘We’re Going To Work Tirelessly To Secure Nigeria’- NSA Ribadu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with the new Service Chiefs in a closed-door meeting.
The meeting which concluded a few minutes ago at the Presidential Villa, Abuja was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General Christopher Gwabin Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff, AVM Hassan Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla; and acting Inspector-General of Police, DIG Kayode Egbetokun.
While the new service chiefs have since assumed duties, their appointments have generated diverse reactions from Nigerians.
The meeting marks the first time Tinubu will meet the new Services Chiefs officially as President of Nigeria.
Speaking after the meeting, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu said the President has appointed quality people and they will deliver improved security to Nigerians.
He said, “Where we are here to thank Mr. President for the opportunity he gave us to serve our country and to serve his own government, we thank him very much. We also pledge our loyalty to him and to Nigerian Nigerians. We believe that the choice he made is the right one.
“We know what he wants for this country. We’re going to work meritoriously to ensure that we accomplish that objective of securing our country. Establishing peace, stability, and let’s get our lives back. He urged to work as a team. Work to be done, he would expect us to deliver and we are grateful for the opportunity. That’s why we’re here. Big task ahead. Yes, it is going to be done bybthe grace of God.
“Where we are today, you can see already things are improving in our country. If you see the record of crimes and activities of the criminals is going down, it will continue to go down. we will secure this country. Nigerians have seen the quality of people that are given opportunity. There are probably some of the best we have and they’re not going to failure. They will certainly delivered. Thank you very much.
He thanked the President for the opportunity to serve the country noting that he assured them that he is ready to secure Nigeria.
Recall that Tinubu, shortly before his recent trip to Paris, France, to attend a financial summit, had jolted the nation when he sacked the former service chiefs and announced new ones as replacements.
Tinubu had also appointed a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, as the National Security Adviser (NSA), replacing Babagana Monguno.
