You Are The Future Of Nigeria, Brig Gen Bello Tells NYSC Members

The Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello, has described members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as the future of Nigeria. He said this, when he visited the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, at Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Rivers State, on 9 October 2025, when he addressed the members of the NYSC, undergoing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Stream I orientation course.

While addressing the NYSC members, Brigadier General Bello stated that Nigerians expect much from them, describing them as beacons of hope and shapers of a new Nigeria. He urged them to be disciplined, patriotic, and to have integrity in order to make positive impact on themselves and the nation.

In his words, “You are the future of Nigeria. The nation looks up to you as the next generation of leaders, professionals, and innovators. It is therefore important that you conduct yourselves with discipline, patriotism, and a deep sense of responsibility wherever you find yourselves.” The Commander, further cautioned them against drug abuse, emphasizing that it destroys potentials and ruins lives. He encouraged them to remain focused, stay away from negative influences, and make choices that would reflect the values of hard work, honesty, and self-discipline.

Brigadier General Bello commended the management and staff of the NYSC for their sustained efforts in grooming young graduates for national service and promoting unity among Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious differences. He expressed confidence that the scheme would continues to play a vital role in nation-building and foster mutual understanding across the country.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Moses Oleghe, appreciated the Commander for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the camp. He noted that his presence and inspiring words would go a long way in motivating the corps members to be more dedicated and disciplined throughout their service year.
