
You Must Uphold The Highest Standards Of Discipline and Professionalism In The Discharge Of Your Constitutional Responsibilities – Commander Infantry Corps
The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Michael Mutkut (OFR), has charged participants and students of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) to exhibit exemplary discipline and professionalism in the conduct of their duties within operational theatres. He gave this directive during the combined graduation ceremony of participants and students of NASI, held on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at the Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna.
Major General Mutkut emphasized that training remains the bedrock of operational effectiveness, particularly in addressing the complex and evolving security challenges confronting the nation. He further expressed confidence that, given the high standard of training received at the institution, the graduating students would serve as valuable assets in ongoing military operations across the country.
Earlier in his welcome address and presentation of course highlights, the Commandant NASI, Major General Frank Sunday Etim, stated that the school had successfully equipped the students with requisite knowledge and competencies through realistic training modules, comprehensive indoor instruction, and rigorous field exercises designed to ensure effective assimilation. He reaffirmed NASI’s unwavering commitment to the continuous training and capacity development of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army towards optimal performance.
The courses graduated included Commanding Officers Course 49, Company Commanders Course 81, Young Officers Course 146, Tactics Instructors Course 28, and Infantry Non-Commissioned Officers Course 43. Others were Basic Infantry Course 35, Basic Snipers Course 41, and Skill-at-Arms Instructors Course 41.
The colorful graduation ceremony was climaxed with the presentation of awards to the best students in order of merit, decoration of newly promoted NASI staff officer and student officers elevated from ranks of Major to Lieutenant Colonel and from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant, as well as the winging of a Nigerian Defence Academy cadet with the airborne badge. Additional highlights included the presentation of souvenirs to distinguished guests and group photograph.
