‘You Stabbed Me In The Back’ – Taylor Swift Drags Kanye West in Reputation Song
Taylor Swift is fighting back after Kanye West and Kim Kardashian outed her as a corny liar on Twitter last year.
In her Reputation song off her latest album of same name (released yesterday November 10, 2017), the singer addresses her ruined relationship with Kanye West who infamously interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. “It was so nice being friends again,” she sings. “There I was, giving you a second chance / But you stabbed me in the back while shaking my hand.”
Recall that her recent feud with the rapper started after he released his Famous video in which he talked about making her famous. Apparently he had called her to seek her permission to include the line and she approved, but when the song surfaced, Taylor denied knowledge of it and slammed the rapper. Well, that upset the West family because Kim Kardashian was forced to call her a snake, and then went on to release snippets of the phone call between Taylor and Kanye on Snapchat in July 2016, stirring global backlash against the singer.
Taylor Swift disappeared from social media because of the tremendous shame, and now she has returned with her 6th studio album and is dragging the Wests.
In the first single off the album, Look What You Made Me Do, she announced that the old Taylor was dead, and then she went on to mock Kim Kardashian over her Paris robbery, and also to shame Kanye over his mother’s death.
Now, she is addressing their feud in Reputation.
On This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, she sings, “Friends don’t try to trick you / Get you on the phone and mind-twist you / And so I took an axe to a mended fence.”
And she also went on to reference Kanye’s feud with Jay-Z, saying, “I’m not the only friend you’ve lost lately,” she sings. “If only you weren’t so shady.” And in the bridge of the song, she went on, “Here’s a toast to my real friends / They don’t care about that he said, she said / And here’s to my baby / He ain’t readin’ what they call me lately / And here’s to my mama / Had to listen to all this drama / And here’s to you / ‘Cause forgiveness is a nice thing to do.”
Well, Kanye West has been silent for too long; there are rumours that he is working on a new album.
Will he respond? We wait.
