Zenith Bank Challenges Gov Fayose to Publish his Bank Statements

Zenith Bank Plc has challenged the embattled governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, to publish the statements for all his three accounts, according to Sahara Reporters . This comes a couple of days after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) froze his personal accounts.

The EFCC on Monday froze Fayose’s account with Zenith bank in connection with N1.2billion allegedly obtained in 2014 from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, to prosecute his re-election as governor.

Fayose has since denied the allegations, claiming his election was funded by Zenith Bank Plc, fundraising, donations from friends and associates, as well as sales of campaign souvenirs.

The governor challenged the EFCC to produce proof of his involvement with looted funds from the former NSA, stating further that the anti-graft agency was acting out a “movie script by the APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari to silence the opposition.”

However, the bank has denied ever funding his campaign, adding that the governor wanted them to conceal from the EFCC how NSA funds were laundered but they couldn’t.

The bank also claimed that the governor was upset that they handed other incriminating documents to officials of the EFCC.

Governor Fayose is yet to respond to the bank’s statement as his accounts remain frozen by the EFCC.
