16-year-old student, Dolapo Makunjuola, has emerged this year’s winner of the annual Miss Virginity beauty pageant held yesterday in Surulere Local Government Secretariat, Lagos.

The teenager, an SS2 student of Estgbam Montessori School, Mile 12 beat 36 other contestants to take home the coveted award organized by NGO, The Virgins, an organization set up to celebrate and encourage virgin girls in the country.

The contest, which involved rigorous scrutiny and drilling, was handled by a three-man panel and saw 22-year-old Marian Adeyeye emerge as first runner-up, with another secondary school student, Oladeji Boluwatife, coming up in third place.

Speaking at the occasion, founder and coordinator of The Virgins, Princess Adediran Adunni encouraged young ladies to keep their virginity intact until marriage.

She added that with proper awareness of the event, mothers will be more keen to support their virgin daughters and put a proper eye into the matter of their female children not having sex before marriage.

Princess Adunni also pleaded with well-placed Nigerians, churches and international bodies to come support the event.

The ninth edition of the annual event, which is usually open to females from 16 years and above, saw the attendance of dignitaries, parents, students, youths and several others.
