
6 Division Garrison Emerges Winner Of Inter-Brigade Ball Games 2025 In Port Harcourt Barracks
The 6 Division, Garrison, Nigerian Army (NA) has been crowned as the champion of the highly contested 6 Division Inter-Brigade Ball Games 2025, held at Port Harcourt Barracks from 14 – 17 April 2025. The competition, which had participants from 2, 16, 63 Brigades as well as 6 Division Garrison showcased their exceptional skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.
While delivering the closing remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, who was the Special Guest of Honour appreciated the participants for their resilience, skills and above all the spirit of sportsmanship displayed during the Competition. He further emphasized that it wasn’t just about winning, but essentially about forging stronger bond of friendship and the spirit of excellence. He urged the participants to internalise and take lessons learnt, bonds established and the spirit of excellence displayed back to their respective formations.
Major General Emekah equally appreciated the host formation, organizers, officers, and all contributors for their unwavering support that brought the Completion to fruition. He added that the Competition did not only test their winning prowess, stamina, and endurance, but basically fostered the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie amongst the participants. He reminded them that the whole essence was to promote physical fitness and teamwork amongst personnel, in order to enhance their operational efficiency and combat readiness, as well prepare them for the forthcoming Inter-Division Competition coming up later in the year.
The GOC congratulated the winners and urged them not to rest on their laurels, and encouraged others to draw lessons from their mistakes and strive for excellence in subsequent outings.
The Competition had participants drawn from 2, 16, 63 Brigades and 6 Division Garrison. They competed in various ball games, including Volleyball, Football, Basketball and Handball games. At the end of the Competition, the 6 Division Garrison team dominated the events, and emerged overall winners, while 2, 63 and 16 Brigades emerged second, third and last positions respectively.
Highlights of the events were the presentations of trophies, medals and awards to the outstanding formations and individuals as well as group photographs.
