
8 Division Nigerian Army Graduates 60 Battle-Ready Soldiers To Bolster Field Operations
8 Division and Sector 2 Joint Task Force (JTF) North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA ( OPFY) has reinforced its operational strength with the graduation of 60 soldiers from its rigorous Fourth Quarter Basic Battle Course. The graduation ceremony marked the culmination of an intensive nine-week training programme designed to instil ‘warrior ethos’ and enhance combat effectiveness of the soldiers.
The General Officer Commanding ( GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 JTF (NW) OPFY Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose expressed immense pride in the progress of the Division Training School while addressing the new graduates. He stated that he was happy for the School’s significant improvements in infrastructure and training which he noted are producing tangible results in the field. He acknowledged that the monthly report showed remarkable progress in the field. Accordingly, the GOC urged the graduates to apply their new skills and act as mentors to their colleagues. “Share your knowledge especially in weapon and live arms drills and let your discipline be an example to others”, he charged.
Earlier, the Acting Division Training Officer, Lieutenant Colonel David Ezebuche noted that the 9 weeks intensive training was designed not just to teach tactics but to forge a mindset that instil the “warrior ethos” in the soldiers, which include a combination of of personal courage, self discipline, confidence and an unbreakable bond of team spirit
The graduation ceremony also featured the soldiers demonstration of their capability to an audience of formation commanders and staff officers. Also outstanding students were also recognised and presented awards. These include Lance Corporal Abubakar Rabiu who was assessed as the best graduating student, Sapper Popoola Ayomide as the second in order of merit and Private Edore Ogbenefejiro as the third in the order merit.
The ceremony attended by formation commanders, staff officers and invited guests concluded with presentation of certificates and group photographs.
