The 9-Bedroom Mansion the Obamas Will Move to When They Leave the White House
President Barack Obama and his family have made plans to relocate from the White House to a nine-bedroom mansion in an upscale neighbourhood in Washington after he leaves office next January.
The 8, 200-square-foot property, which is valued around $6 million with an estimated monthly rent of $22,000 on Zillow, is owned by Joe Lockhart, a former press secretary and senior adviser to Bill Clinton. Photos of the luxurious mansion were shared online yesterday, showing the Obamas’ new home to have spacious rooms with hardwood floors, white marble counter tops and kitchen, a spacious patio and his-and-hers master bathrooms. The 9-bedroom mansion also has an au pair suite said to be suitable for Marian Robinson, Michelle Obama’s mother who has lived with the family in the White house. Even though the Obamas own a home in Chicago, the President stated earlier in March that he and his family would remain in the Washington area until his last born, Sasha, graduates from high school. The new neighbourhood has long been home to politicians including Franklin D. Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover and Senator Edward M. Kennedy.
