Military Secretary Sensitizes Officers Of 2 Division Area Of Responsibility On Career Planning and Prospects In The Nigerian Army

The Military Secretary Army MS (A), Maj Gen Everest Okoro has emphasized the importance of early career planning for military officers. He stated this today 23 April 2026, during a sensitization lecture organised for officers within 2 Division Area of Responsibility.

Maj Gen Okoro urged officers to proactively plan their careers as they progress through the ranks, encouraging them to excel in their roles and take ownership of their destinies. The MS (A) provided in-depth enlightenment on the roles, history and organization of the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary, career planning and management for Nigerian Army officers, career review and discharge from service. This comprehensive approach aimed to empower officers with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about their careers.

In his welcome remarks, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Chinedu Nnebeife welcomed the Military Secretary (Army) to the Division. He expressed that as a historic formation within the Nigerian Army, 2 Division prides itself on remaining at the forefront of operational excellence, while recognize that valor in the field should be balanced with precision in career management. The GOC further stressed that the sensitization lecture is not just a routine administrative program, but a strategic intervention designed to shape the future of prospective leaders of the Nigerian Army.

Maj Gen Nnebeife thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, Nigerian Army Medal, for his continuous support, foresight, and direction. He also appreciate the Military Secretary and his team for their commitment to sustaining this important

activity and for their tireless efforts in ensuring that the career management of Nigerian Army officers remains transparent, merit-driven, and aligned with global best practices. He then charged participants to make good use of the knowledge gained from the lecture.

The event was climaxed with interactive session, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
