Commander 6 Brigade Commends NISS For Shaping Nigeria’s Strategic Leaders

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA)/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, has commended the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS) for its sustained efforts in mentoring individuals to become strategic leaders in Nigeria.

He made this remark during a courtesy visit by the Commandant of the Institute to the Headquarters, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Tuesday, 27 April 2026.

Brigadier General Akaliro thanked the Institute for selecting Taraba State as one of the states for their study tour. He highlighted the necessity of strategic training which he observed as essential to produce effective leaders. He noted that such training is indispensable for the progress of any society especially in the security sector.

The Brigade Commander further praised the Institute for its commitment to grooming the next generation of strategic leaders. He also acknowledged the Commandant’s notable achievements and assured him of the Brigade’s continued support.

Earlier, the Commandant of the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS), Mr. Joseph Odama, described the visit as a brotherly engagement, noting that it forms part of the institute’s broader initiatives aimed at enhancing national security and safeguarding lives across the country.
