CCEME Tours Nigerian Army Formations In Bauchi Assess Equipment Support and Commends Troops

In a bid to evaluate equipment support delivery and enhance operational efficiency, the Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME), Major General Adeyinka Adereti on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, conducted an operational visit to Nigerian Army formations in Bauchi State.

The CCEME’s first point of call was Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade, where he was briefed on the Brigade’s recent operational successes. The Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Saidu Shehu highlighted the positive contributions of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers unit attached to the formation. He particularly lauded the concerted efforts of the Acting Commanding Officer, Major Murtala Yusuf during the Brigade’s just-concluded clearance operations in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Major General Adereti assured the Brigade Commander of continuous and proactive equipment support to the formation. He stressed the importance of reverse engineering in meeting increasing equipment support demands and commended Major Yusuf for sustaining support to the Brigade despite prevailing challenges. The CCEME subsequently toured the 33 Artillery Brigade Workshop facilities and addressed troops of the unit.

The operational tour also took the CCEME to Headquarters Nigerian Army Armoured Corps (HQ NAAC) where he was received on arrival by the Commander Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar who was represented by the Acting Deputy Chief of Staff G1, Lieutenant Colonel TC Wilcox. During the visit, the CCEME inspected key facilities within HQ NAAC, including the Vehicle Holding Unit and the Nigerian Army Comprehensive Servicing Centre. He was also conducted round the Comprehensive Servicing Centre jointly owned by Nigerian Army and Chinese authorities. The CCEME was adequately briefed by Mr WU Siming, a Chinese National working at the facility.

Before departing to Jos, the CCEME visited the Nigerian Army Special Vehicle Plant (NASVP) where he was received and briefed by the Acting Managing Director, Brigadier General Mohammed Lawal. The brief covered the Plant’s activities, recent achievements and operational challenges.

In his response, Major General Adereti commended the Acting Managing Director, Brigadier General Lawal for the significant progress recorded within the short period in office and urged him to sustain the tempo. He assured the Plant’s management that all issues raised would receive prompt attention.

Addressing staff of NASVP, the CCEME praised their dedication to duty and charged them to leverage their specialized skills to deliver quality jobs. He said, while emphasizing the need for specialty and proficiency, they should uphold the image of the NAEME Corps.

The visit provided the CCEME first-hand assessment of equipment maintenance operations and served to further motivate personnel across the visited formations.
