
IGP Tunji Disu Reaffirms Transparency, Accountability and Reform As Core Principles Of The Nigeria Police Force
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, has reaffirmed his commitment to building a more transparent, accountable, and people-centered Nigeria Police Force, emphasizing that openness and institutional integrity remain central to ongoing reforms within the Force.
The IGP made this known during the Emergency Conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the press held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Addressing senior officers and the media openly, the Inspector-General stressed that transparency must remain the foundation of modern policing and public trust.
According to the IGP:
“Transparency is the foundation of the new Nigeria Police Force I am committed to building. I have nothing to hide, and neither should any officer under my command.”
The Inspector-General noted that accountability within the Force will continue to be pursued decisively, particularly in matters relating to misconduct, abuse of office, and violations of professional standards.
He further emphasized that ongoing reforms under his leadership are focused on strengthening professionalism, human rights compliance, operational discipline, and public confidence in policing.
The conference also served as an opportunity for the Force leadership to directly engage the public through the media, reinforcing the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to openness, responsible policing, and institutional reform.
The Nigeria Police Force assures Nigerians that it remains committed to restoring trust, improving service delivery, and building a Police institution anchored on integrity, discipline, and accountability.
