Nigerian Army Corps Of Military Police Trains Personnel On Professional Conduct, Operational Efficiency

The Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police (NACMP) has organised its bi-annual training seminar aimed at strengthening the professional conduct and operational efficiency of its personnel. The seminar was held at the Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Basawa, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The seminar, themed “Improving the Efficiency of Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police Personnel in the Nigerian Army,” brought together senior officers and subject matter experts to deliberate on contemporary military policing challenges and enhance professional capacity among personnel.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Provost Marshal (Army), Major General Matthias Erebulu, stated that the seminar was designed to generate ideas and professional knowledge that would enable NACMP personnel to effectively respond to evolving security challenges. He noted that the Corps would continue to embrace critical thinking and innovative approaches in order to remain at the forefront of law enforcement and security operations within the Nigerian Army.

Major General Erebulu also charged officers and soldiers to avoid the misuse of social media and remain professional in the discharge of their duties.

The Provost Marshal further expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, which he said had continued to enhance the growth and effectiveness of the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police.

The seminar featured lectures on various contemporary issues, including “Strengthening Military Police Capacity to Enforce Human Rights Compliance by Troops” delivered by Colonel JS Obot; “The Roles of Military Police in Maintaining Civil-Military Relations and Information Gathering Among Security Agencies in Operational Theatres” delivered by Colonel LA Benjamin (Rtd); “The Impact of Drug and Alcohol Abuse on Military Personnel” delivered by Deputy Commander General Momodu Sule; and “Practical Steps for Comprehensive Military Police Investigation Report Writing” delivered by Major MA Kebonkwu (Rtd).

The event concluded with the commissioning of a newly renovated training shed by the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Military Police, Brigadier General Onalo Yakubu. Other highlights included the presentation of souvenirs, award of certificates to participants and group photographs.
