Nigeria’s New Ambassador To China, Lt Gen AB Dambazau (rtd) Pays Farewell Visit To The Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja

It was a historic and nostalgic moment as the newly appointed Nigerian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdurrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd) CFR, PhD, Baraden Kano, former Chief of Army Staff and former Minister of Interior, paid a farewell visit to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja, where he had served for many years as a member of the Board of Trustees, on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Welcoming the Ambassador to the Centre, the Director General of NARC, Major General JGK Myam (rtd) OFR, congratulated him on his well-deserved appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to China on behalf of the Board of Trustees, management staff, officers, soldiers, and civilian personnel of the Centre.

Major General Myam (rtd) OFR expressed appreciation for General Dambazau’s immense contributions to the growth and development of the Centre over the years. He stated that the Centre was bidding him farewell with mixed feelings, noting that while he would be greatly missed, his new appointment was a higher national calling deserving of congratulations and support.

The Director General further described General Dambazau (rtd) CFR PhD as a committed supporter who had consistently shown keen interest in the affairs and well-being of the Centre. He thanked him for his unwavering support and wished him continued success in his new diplomatic assignment. He also appealed to the Ambassador to continue identifying with the Centre and contributing to its progress.

In his remarks, His Excellency Lieutenant General Dambazau (rtd) CFR PhD expressed gratitude to the Director General for receiving him at short notice. He also appreciated the management staff, officers, soldiers, and civilian personnel of the Centre for the support extended to him during his tenure as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Speaking further, the Ambassador clarified that his visit was not entirely a farewell, as he would continue to remain part of the Centre and participate actively in its activities as a member of the Board of Trustees.

“I am still a member of the Board of Trustees,” he stated. “I find it necessary to go round not only to pay a courtesy visit but also to consult and do my best to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and China, particularly in terms of partnerships between institutions in China and the Centre. I also intend to facilitate contacts and support, especially in areas such as ICT and other critical sectors.”

Present at the farewell visit were the Executive Director of NARC Consult, Major General AOD Okoro (rtd), fhsn PhD; the Director of Research, Professor Femi Mimiko, mni; Directors; members of the management staff; Senior Research Fellows; Consultants; Research Fellows; officers; soldiers; and civilian staff of the Centre.

The Director General later presented the Ambassador with a souvenir after he signed the Centre’s Visitors’ Book. The event concluded with a group photograph at Hall C, TY Buratai Block, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
