Hotel Training Company Storms To Victory At The 20KM Inter Company Race Competition

The Depot Nigerian Army Amasiri-Edda Temporary Training Area witnessed a remarkable display of physical fitness and competitive spirit today, Wednesday 13 May 2026 during the 20km inter company combat race competition where Hotel Training Company emerged the best training company.

The race was aimed at stimulating team movement under pressure, building cohesion and testing both physical and mental readiness of the recruits. This is also to foster healthy rivalry as well as improving the endurance skills to withstand the continuous rigour of training towards becoming a professional soldier. Additionally, this competition is meant to instill esprit-de-corps and cammoraderie amongst the recruits.

Delivering his remarks, Special Guest of Honour(SGOH),the Commandant Nigerian Military School Zaria, Brigadier General Owoicho Ngbede Ejiga commended the Commandant Depot NA Amasiri-Edda Brigadier General Ahmed Ahmadu and his formidable training team for organising this competition. He further stated that it is not just a race but the demonstration of discipline, determination, resilience and the pursuit for excellence. The race demands physical strength, mental toughness and the determination to keep moving even when the body becomes tired, and these are qualities that are required of the soldiers of the Nigerian Army.

To the recruits, Brigadier General Ejiga commended their courage and willingness to challenge themselves by taking part in the competition. Stressing that winning is important but even more important is the determination displayed during the race especially the resolve to push to the finish line despite fatigue.

In addition to offering his warmest congratulations for the recruits for their teamwork and outstanding performance, the SGOH handed cash gifts to the Individuals who came first on both male and female categories. He concluded by reminding all that excellence comes through perseverance and hardwork.

Highlights of the event included, the flag off of the competition by the SGOH, the race, Announcement of results, presentation of gifts and awards to the winners and group photograph.
