A Tribute To Major General Ezra Jahadi Jakko (rtd) by Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi

A RARE GEM, A DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER, A SERVANT OF GOD AND A TRUE FRIEND OF THE PEOPLE.

The news of the passing of Major General Ezra Jahadi Jakko (rtd), a former Chief of Budget and Accounts, Nigerian Army, and the General Overseer of Gospel Believers Mission, came to me as a rude shock and has left a deep void in the hearts of many.

General Jakko was truly a rare gem.

He was a man of exceptional character—upright, honest, compassionate and genuinely committed to the welfare of others.

Despite his lofty position and accomplishments, he remained remarkably humble, accessible and down-to-earth.

He was a man of the people.

He mingled freely with everyone, made himself easily accessible, and treated both the high and the low with equal warmth and respect. His doors were open, and his heart was even more open. Whenever someone needed help, encouragement or counsel, he was often willing to be there.

His military career was marked by discipline, professionalism and distinguished service to the nation. Yet, beyond the uniform and the rank was a man whose greatest strength was his humanity and love for people.

As a servant of God, he also devoted himself to the work of the Lord, touching lives through his ministry and leadership.

I was privileged to spend quality time with General Jakko during the annual convention of Gospel Believers Mission last year. That encounter remains a cherished memory for me. It was another opportunity to experience firsthand his warmth, humility, friendliness and genuine love for people. In those moments of fellowship, I saw not just the distinguished General, but a humble and approachable friend who related freely with everyone around him. Little did I know that the memories we shared during that convention would become so precious to me today.

General Jakko’s passing is not only the loss of a great soldier and leader; it is the loss of a father figure, a dependable friend, a helper, a mentor and a true lover of humanity.

Though we mourn deeply, we are grateful for the privilege of knowing such a remarkable man. His good deeds, humility, integrity and kindness will continue to speak long after his departure.

A great soldier has laid down his sword.

A great servant has completed his assignment.

A great man has gone to rest.

Dear General, your sudden departure is painful and difficult to comprehend, but your legacy will remain indelible in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

Rest in perfect peace, Major General Ezra Jahadi Jakko (rtd).

You served the Almighty God.

You served your Nation.

You served the People.

You served humanity.

Your memory will forever be a blessing.
