AKA Becomes First English Rapper in SA to go Platinum
South African rapper AKA’s second studio album, Levels, has been certified platinum.
This news was shared on social media by the ‘Baddest’ rapper who could not wait to tell fans the hard work it took in making the album a success. “No sponsors. No brands. Just 40 000 cold hard sales,” he wrote today, adding, “That’s truly epic. Thank YOU.”

Levels, a follow-up to his debut album, Altar Ego was released on June 30, 2014 by Vth Season to critical acclaim. The rapper was named the ‘King’ for that second attempt. And according to DJ Double D, AKA has become the first English rapper in the country to go platinum.
