Lagos Politician Dies in an Indian Hospital

Former Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Area and one-time Commissioner of Sports in Lagos State, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele has passed on.

According to his son Hon, Sultan Adeniji-Adele who confirmed the death, Adeniji-Adele, who was aged 60, passed on at about 6:00am Nigerian time in an Indian hospital, on Thursday morning (today), Vanguard reports.

The message from Sultan read: “Good morning every one, My dad Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele this morning passed on in India, may almighty Allah grant him Aljanah fidau. Hon. Sultan Adeniji-Adele.”

The deceased statesman, fondly referred to as ‘Papa’ was a Prince of Lagos and one of the most recognizable figures in the politics and sports administration in the state and the entire country.

He was also a one-time deputy gubernatorial candidate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before crossing over to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Family sources say his remains would soon be flown home for a befitting burial according to Islamic rites.

The late politician he is survived by wife, Tawakalitu and children.
