The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu has declared that the fight against corruption cannot be won without the support of everyone in the society.
Magu said this on Thursday, July 18, 2019 while featuring on Sobi 101.5 FM programme in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.
The EFCC Chairman who was represented by the Head, Ilorin Zonal Office of EFCC, Mr Isyaku Sharu said, “We are collaborating with all stakeholders to fight corruption. When we came on board, we visited all the stakeholders within the zone. The essence is for us to achieve results.
“We had to take the fight against corruption to the door step of every Nigerian. As we speak, the Commission has 14 zonal offices across the country. In Ilorin here, we have secured 19 convictions. They are all serving their jail terms in prisons custody,” Magu said.
The EFCC boss urged the public to have trust in the Commission and feel free to give effective information that would assist in the arrest and prosecution of corrupt Individuals.
According to him, “Part of our responsibilities is to protect our informants as stipulated in the EFCC Establishment Act. We know they (informants) are vulnerable, once you give us information, the Commission will not disclose your identity to anyone.”
Magu used the opportunity of the radio programme to admonish the youth to do away with internet fraud and other fraud-related offences that are capable of jeopardizing their careers and future.
