The Nasarawa State Police Command has dragged the National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, North Central Zone, Zakari Idde, before the state High Court in Lafia for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Chinese miner. Also involved alongside the APC Chieftain are his police orderly and two other persons.

The Punch reports that on Wednesday, Idde was charged alongside nine other people but his plea could not be taken as the matter was not listed for mention. The judge also decided to adjourn the case till Friday for the hearing of the bail application by the lawyer of other accused persons.

The police had earlier paraded the suspect of the killings before journalists but the APC Chieftain was not among those paraded as he was said to be on bail at the time.

According to the police, the suspects ambushed and killed a Chinese national and three others at Wugibi Hills in the Alogani area of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government of the state late last year.

The state commissioner of police, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq-Bello, told Northern City News that Idde was among the prime suspects in the murder.

He said, “As far as the police are concerned, Mr. Idde is also a suspect. His statement was obtained under caution after which he was released on bail.”

However, Zakari Idde said he had nothing to do with the murder.
