Arapaja joins Oyinlola, Oladipo in PDP deputy national chairmanship race

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has joined the race to contest for the Deputy National Chairmanship position of the party.

Arapaja’s media aide, Ibrahim Bamitele, said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday that his principal would contest the election at the PDP National Convention.

He explained that Arapaja’s decision to contest was borne out of the great idea of repositioning the party to greater heights.

He added that Arapaja participated at the screening of all participants at the Legacy House in Abuja.

He was silent on wether Arapaja had resigned his position as the zonal chairman of the party or would do that before the convention date.

Former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and a former National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, are the only two aspirants that have so far shown intention to conest the office.

The statement read, “In order to bring normalcy back to our fold and after due consultation with party faithful, members, leaders and stakeholders, today, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja participated in the screening of all aspirants for the forthcoming National Convention at Legacy House, Abuja.

“While Ambassador Arapaja would be aspiring for the post of the Deputy National Chairman of our great party, this ambition is borne out of the great idea of repositioning the party to greater heights it rightfully belongs like we have started in the South-West PDP.

“Our dearest Governor and Leader of PDP in the South-West, Governor Seyi Makinde, has really raised the bar of politicking in our nation and we can’t do otherwise than to follow his footsteps of all inclusive, purposeful and visionary brand of politics with human face. His supports has been very tremendous and we hope to continue to make him proud.”
