Armed robbers on Tuesday attacked a convoy of bullion vans belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at Hawan Kibo along Jos – Abuja expressway, killing two policemen in the process.

In the ensuing shootout, a mobile policeman in the CBN convoy was shot and killed by the daredevil robbers.

The slain policeman has been identified as Sgt. Anthony Jawa, from Mobile Police Squad (MOPOL) 8, Jos, Punch reports.

While confirming the incident which reportedly occurred at about 8:30am, Police Public Relations Officer of the State’s Command, ASP Tyopev Terna, said he was yet to receive the full report from the Riyom Divisional Police station, adding that some policemen were killed, but he did not know the number.

The attacked bullion van and escort are presently being guarded at the Federal Road Safety (FRSC) office in Riyom.
