Army Must Continue To Train Aggressively To Ensure Secured and Peaceful Nigeria — Gov. Sanwo Olu States At 24th Combat Service Support Training Week
The Executive Governor of Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu has today Tuesday 22 August 2023 affirmed that the Nigerian Army alongside other security agencies have achieved tremendous success in combating security challenges bedeviling the Nation. He therefore appreciates the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing support to the Armed Forces. He also appreciated the chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TA Lagbaja and the entire military as well as other security agencies for ensuring sustained peace and security in Lagos State.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff Mr Gboyega Soyannwo at the Opening Ceremony of the 24th Combat Service Support Training Week 2023 held at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps Surulere Lagos, charged the Nigerian Army Combat Service Support Corps to explore the week-long training to evolve and review more efficient strategies for supporting the Nigerian Army in her Operational Engagements. He stated that the Army must continue to train aggressively in order to proficiently achieve the ultimate goals of a secured and peaceful Nigeria.
Earlier in his Keynote remarks, the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TA Lagbaja who was represented by the Commander Corps of Engineers Maj Gen PE Eromosele submits that the training week is indeed a milestone to ensure that the Nigerian Army pays attention to Capacity development. He assured the Combat Service Support Corps of his continued support in terms of training, procurement of requisite equipments, maintenance of equipment and welfare of personnels. He reiterated the Nigerian Armys’ determination to eliminate terrorism and insurgency in collaboration with sister services, police and other security agencies.
The COAS expressed his deepest appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his immense effort at providing the required support for the Nigerian Army. He therefore urge participants to dissect pressing issues and proffer feasible solutions for the Nigerian Army in performing her constitutional responsibilities.
The Corps Commander Ordnance, Maj Gen JO Ugwuoke while welcoming invited guests and participant on behalf of the Commanders of the Nigerian Army Combat Service Support Corps which are Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps and the Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps stated that the training week is designed to provide avenue for interaction and appraisal of the performance of the Corps in a view to develop and provide a more effective and efficient logistics support to the Nigerian Army.
Also present at the Opening Ceremony of the 24th Combat Service Support Training Week were Commander Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command Maj Gen KO Aligbe, Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Royal Fathers from Lagos State, Captains of Industries, Senior Officers both serving and retired as well as Heads of paramilitary and security agencies in Lagos State.
The Opening Ceremony featured Exhibition of Nigerian Army Research and Development Projects, Free Medical Outreach at the New State High School Mushin and Project Commissioning at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Tailoring Factory.
