ATSTC Reinforces Nigerian Air Force Aviation Safety Standards Through Intensive Cabin Crew Refresher Training

The Air Traffic Services Training Centre (ATSTC), Kaduna, has reinforced the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to aviation safety and operational excellence through the successful conduct of Cabin Crew Refresher Course 2/2026. The programme commenced on 1 June 2026 with the inauguration of selected cabin crew personnel for a rigorous five-day training package aimed at enhancing proficiency in cabin safety, emergency procedures, passenger care and in-flight service delivery. The refresher course is in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which prioritizes standardized training and mission-focused capability development as critical enablers for operational effectiveness across the Nigerian Air Force.

Speaking during the inauguration on behalf of the Commandant, the Deputy Commandant and Head of Training, Group Captain US Maibuhu, emphasized that safety remains the cornerstone of successful air operations and urged participants to demonstrate discipline, professionalism and total commitment throughout the training. During the course, participants underwent intensive theoretical and practical sessions, including full-scale cabin simulator exercises and live emergency drills covering emergency evacuation, medical response, aviation security, crew resource management, regulatory compliance and passenger service. Conducted under the theme, “When Seconds Count,” the training was designed to sharpen critical skills and reinforce the ability of cabin crew personnel to respond effectively and confidently in demanding operational environments.

The course culminated on 5 June 2026 with the graduation of the participants, marking another milestone in ATSTC’s efforts to strengthen aviation safety standards within the Nigerian Air Force. In his remarks, the Commandant of the Centre, Air Vice Marshal NB Folaji, commended the graduates for their resilience, discipline and dedication, noting that refresher training remains vital for maintaining operational readiness and ensuring swift, professional responses during emergencies. Speaking on behalf of the graduating participants, Sergeant Ojigi AC expressed appreciation for the training experience, describing it as a valuable opportunity that sharpened professional competencies while reaffirming the inseparable link between safety and service excellence. The successful completion of the course further underscores ATSTC Kaduna’s role as a premier aviation training institution, supporting the development of highly skilled aircrew and strengthening the safety culture that underpins Nigerian Air Force air operations.
