Attorney General Commends EFCC for Recoveries

The Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister, Ayinla Jawondo Salman, has commended the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for huge recoveries of stolen monies belonging to the state government. Salman gave the commendation when he led senior officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Justice on a courtesy visit to the Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC.

According to the Attorney General, EFCC is doing a great work and has made huge recoveries for the state, monies that ordinarily would have been stolen.

“I think the EFCC is wonderful, let me appreciate you and this office on behalf of the Kwara State government for all the monies and properties, we have seen your achievements and they are commendable”, he stated.

“It is important that we are on the same page with the EFCC, we must relate as partners and I thought we should have this gathering by cooperating with you to achieve your mandate. I want the EFCC to feel at home because we are going to make your job easier”.

While responding on the issue, the Head, Ilorin Zonal Office of the Commission, Isyaku Sharu, who spoke on behalf of the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, thanked the delegation and said the EFCC needs the support of everybody in the fight against corruption.

“We must come together to salvage the system, that has been the mandate of the Commission, we must work together, this country belongs to all of us”, he added.

“During the last Nigerian Youth walk against corruption, we did say that we have recovered the sum of N200, 000, 000 (Two Hundred Million Naira) for the state government as at today; and we have additional N20, 000, 00, (Twenty Million Naira), bringing the total till ate to N220, 000, 000 (Two Hundred and Twenty Million Naira)”.

No fewer than seven properties and some exotic cars have been finally forfeited to the Federal Government. The properties were recovered from both politicians and civil servants in the state.
