Audu Maikori Allegedly Sharing a Cell With Arrested Herdsmen, to Appear in Court on Monday

Audu Maikori is allegedly sharing a cell with some arrested herdsmen.

According to Punch, this was revealed by sources close to the authorities who added that the Choc City boss will be arraigned in court on Monday, March 13, 2017.

Recall that the 41-year-old public speaker was taken into custody on Friday, after his February 17 arrest and subsequent release over a his false comments about the Southern Kaduna killings. Maikori had apologised and retracted the statements, but was taken again following Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s vow to prosecute the music executive on grounds that the tweets could have incited the killing of innocent people.

Now, Punch says that the Choc City boss is currently being held at the Gabasawa Police Station in Kaduna State and is allegedly sharing the same cell with arrested herdsmen. Newsmen gathered, also, that his family were barred from seeing him.

The Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Usman could not be reached for comment. However, newsmen gathered that the case had been transferred to the Attorney General of Kaduna State and that the Chocolate City boss would appear in Court on Monday for trial.

Speaking with the press, Maikori’s close associate said, “He needs to be with his doctors but he doesn’t have access to them where he is. However, a team is being set up to look into the matter and provide legal representation for him.”
