Barcelona win 24th La Liga Title
Luis Suarez bagged a hat-trick as Barcelona claimed a second straight La Liga title after a 3-0 victory at Grenada Saturday.
The Uruguayan took his tally for the season to 40 goals to claim the Pichichi award, making him the first player other than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to finish as La Liga top scorer since 2009.
It was a fifth victory in a row for Luis Enrique’s men as they obtained their 24th La Liga crown with just a point ahead of bitter rivals Real Madrid, who beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 after a double from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Suarez eased any nerves the Catalans might have experienced when he tapped in Jordi Alba’s cross at the far post in the 22nd minute, before he brilliantly glanced home a teasing cut-back from Dani Alves on the cusp of half time.
The Uruguayan completed his treble four minutes from time when Neymar, played through by Messi, unselfishly teed the ball onto his path for him to score into an empty net.
The Blaugrana will seal a second straight league and cup double if they beat Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final on Sunday, 22 May at the Vicente Calderon.
