Benin Stand Still As Nigerian Youths Walk Against Corruption

Benin City, the Edo State capital was at a stoodstill, as hundreds of Nigerian youths including members of the National Youth Service Corps, Civil Society Organisations, Trade Union Congress, Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Officials of National Orientation Agency, Department of State Service, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, staff of the EFCC and other organisations walk through the streets of Benin carrying banners and fliers with inscriptions, “Nigerian Youths Say Corruption, Corruption Kills, Let’s Kill Corruption”.

Amidst singing and dancing provided by members of the NYSC, and spiced with music by dIsc jockey, the walk commenced at the Benin Zonal Office of the EFCC, through Sapele Road, Ekewan Road, Obakhabaye/Plymouth Road, through Airport Road and Ezoti Street before terminating at the EFCC office.
The youths with Pentecostal fervour, sang anti corruption song, distributed fliers and hand bills which highlights the danger of corruption to passers by, communters, transporters and residentsof the city.

Addressing journalists after the road walk, the Benin Zonal Head, Muhtar Bello on behalf of the acting Executive chairman, Ibrahim Magu said the essence of the road walk was to sensitize and mobilize the youth across the country to reject the evil of corrupt practices, become youth advocates and take ownership of the fight against corruption in the country.
