The Biggest Celebrity Feuds that Shook Twitter

Yesterday, rapper Eedris Abdulkareem launched an attack on Don Jazzy and other music bosses, accusing them of disrespecting his generation of musicians.

“We put food on their table because of what we fought for, and we are very happy, and that’s why we are legends, you understand. But if anyone of them tries to disrespect, we will put them back to where they belong,” Eedris said.

Adding, “All of them, from Don Jazzy and all of them, they lived in London, how come the British government never gave them opportunity, they had to come to Nigeria because we made it happen.”

Many people have accused Eedris of seeking to start a new social media beef in the industry, especially because it has been quite a while since the industry witnessed a beef between artistes.

And this is why we are taking a look at the Twitter beefs that got people talking across the world. From Don Jazzy and Olamide’s Headies award beef to Nicki Minaj’s war with Taylor Swift, see all the times your faves dragged themselves on Twitter:

  1. Don Jazzy vs Olamide

In January 2016, Nigerian Twitter went up in flames after Mavin star Reekado Banks won the Headies’ Awards Next Rated category, causing YBNL’s Lil Kesh to storm off the event centre in anger.

Shortly after, YBNL boss Olamide hopped on stage to express his anger over how his artiste was denied the Next Rated category. This apparently upset Mavin boss Don Jazzy, because during his award acceptance speech, he called out Olamide and dared him to come take the gift that came with Reekado’s winning.

Well, this didn’t sit well with Olamide who had left the event. The YBNL boss quickly took to Twitter after he learned of Don Jazzy’s comments, to trash-talk an threaten him, leading to a heated weeks-long feud that was eventually resolved by Aliko Dangote.

2. Rihanna vs Ciara

In 2011, Ciara appeared on E!’s Fashion Police with the late Joan Rivers and made unkind comments about how Rihanna was a snub.

“I ran into [Rihanna] recently at a party,” she said. “She wasn’t the nicest. It’s crazy, because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done in fashion. It wasn’t the most pleasant run-in.”

Rihanna, who has a penchant for dragging folks mercilessly, immediately reacted, and it degenerated into a very messy fight that got everyone talking. However, the BBHMM singer retracted her steps and made peace with her colleague on the same platform.

See how it went down:

3. Meek Mill vs Drake

In July 2015, Meek Mill took to Twitter to out Quentin Miller as the mind behind Drake’s songs This public shaming led to the hottest hip-hop beef in digital times. Drake responded to the allegation with two diss tracks that almost ended the Philly rapper’s career.

Meek Mill suffered massive backlash from hip-hop enthusiasts; he quit Twitter because he remained a trending topic worldwide. Since then, he has remained a butt of jokes in the industry.

4. Amber Rose vs Khloe Kardashian

In 2015, Amber Rose eviscerated Khloe Kardashian after the reality TV star called out the model for trash-talking her family on a show.

Amber Rose talked about Tyga’s relationship with the then-underage Kylie Jenner. “She is a baby, she needs to get to bed at 7 O’clock and relax,”  Amber said. “Tyga should be ashamed of himself. For sure. He has a beautiful woman and a baby and left that for a 16-year-old who just turned 17.”

Clearly pissed by that statement, Khloe Kardashian called Amber Rose out in a series of tweets that led to a brutal fight. And it all turned really sour after Kanye West jumped into the furore, saying that his wife Kim made him take ‘30 showers‘ for dating Amber.

5. Taylor Swift vs Nicki Minaj

In January 2015, the MTV nominees list was released and though Nicki Minaj got nominated for some categories, she wasn’t happy that her single with Beyonce ‘Feeling Myself’ wasn’t nominated and her ‘Anaconda’ didn’t get nominated for important categories.

And so she took to Twitter to call out the award organisation for undermining the works of people of colour, especially women of colour. “If I was a different “kind” of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well,” she said, adding, “When the “other” girls drop a video that breaks records and impacts culture they get that nomination.”

Taylor Swift felt that was shade targeting her and she voiced her concerns. Well, it led to a through clap back from Nicki Minaj, birthing conversations and essays.

But the women eventually made peace and even performed together at the award ceremony.

6. Iggy Azalea vs Azealia Banks

The feud between the two rappers with similar names started in 2015, when Iggy made an insensitive comment at the peak of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Many people called her out for dismissing the movement, and her nemesis Banks, took that lead to launch a personal attack on the Australian rapper which is still ongoing.

However, the feud reached a disturbing peak after Iggy revealed she had attempted suicide and Banks told her to go ahead and drive off a cliff.

Many people frowned at that insensitive attack. Banks would later continued with her random attacks on people until she was chased off Twitter.
