Chief Of Army Staff Hosts Salah Luncheon With Troops In Kogi

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, on 27 May 2026 hosted a Salah Luncheon with troops of 21 Battalion Nigerian Army in Lokoja, Kogi State, as part of activities marking the Eid el Kabir celebration aimed at boosting troops’ morale and fostering unity among personnel.

Representing the COAS at the occasion, the Deputy Director General Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Center, Major General Samson Abai conveyed the goodwill and appreciation of the Chief of Army Staff to officers and soldiers for their sacrifices, commitment and unwavering dedication in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities across the country. He commended the troops for their resilience and professionalism while urging them to remain steadfast and loyal in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities threatening national peace and security.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for the gesture and continued support to troops of the Division. He noted that the luncheon served as a morale booster for personnel and further strengthened the bond among officers, soldiers and their families during the festive period.

The event featured interactions with troops, presentation of meals and goodwill messages to personnel. In his vote of thanks, the Commanding Officer 21 Battalion Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel GS Monde, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for identifying with the troops during the Salah celebration. He assured the Army leadership of the Battalion’s continued commitment towards ensuring peace and security within its area of responsibility.

The occasion was attended by the Commander 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Principal Staff Officers from Headquarters 2 Division and 12 Brigade, senior officers, representatives of other security agencies, traditional rulers as well as various local government Chairmen and other distinguished guests.
