Chief Of Army Staff Improves Soldiers Accommodation To Strengthen Operational Readiness
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, commissioned 5 renovated blocks of soldiers’ accommodation at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Plateau State, as part of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing personnel welfare in support of operational effectiveness and national security objectives.
During an interaction with families of personnel in the barracks, the COAS commended the wives of soldiers for their patience, resilience and relentless support, acknowledging their vital role in sustaining troop morale and enabling personnel to remain focused on their constitutional responsibilities.
Lieutenant General Shaibu reaffirmed that the provision of quality accommodation remains a key pillar of his Soldier First Concept, stressing that improved living conditions are essential to boosting morale, strengthening combat readiness, and enhancing the Nigerian Army’s capacity to effectively safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.
