The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has commissioned about Fifty-five (55) brand new Buffalo 4 Runner vehicles for its personnel.

This was to enhance the efforts of the Nigerian army personnel to stem out terrorism and other forms of criminality in the country.

Performing the ceremony in AHQ Garrison parade ground, Abuja, Gen. Buratai said the NA for the past Four (4) years has witnessed unprecedented procurement of equipment and plants.

This, he said was to enhance his 2020 vision which is ‘to sustain a responsive and Professional Nigerian Army in the conduct of its Constitutional Duties’.

Buratai who was represented by Maj.Gen. Joel Unuigbe, Chief of Logistics, (Army), further stated that one of the key tenets of this Directive is ‘Sustained Logistics Support to all Nigerian Army formations/units in operations’.

COAS added that, to also enhance effective operations, combat easy mobility,among others all the formations and unites across the country were supplied with operational vehicles.

The vehicles according to him were include, Toyota Hiluxes, Buffaloes, lnnoson Motor vehicles and Peugeot, and many others.

He further explained the importance of the vehicles to the Nigerian Army.

“This model of vehicle is an asset and indeed force multiplier particularly in the North East terrain Where the Armed Forces of Nigeria is conducting operations against Boko Haram criminals.

“It is therefore my belief that the vehicles will increase the mobility and combat efficiency of the Nigerian Army troops’ in mission area”. He added.

Buratai also reaffirmed the resolve of the NA to be focused in ensuring to defend the nation from external and Internal threats as well as providing aid to civil authority in other national emergencies including Such the COVlD-19 that is plaguing the world, Nigeria inclusive.

He maintained that the NA will maintain responsiveness and professionalism in this regard.

He therefore commended the Honourable Minister of Defence, the national assembly for their support to facilitating the procurement of our logistics requirements.

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for his committed leadership and support to the NA.
