Chief Of Defence Staff Commends AFCSC’s Innovations Declares Exercise Haske Biyu 2025 Closed

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR today 2 October 2025 in a colourful ceremony declared Exercise HASKE BIYU 2025 closed at the AVM AO Ogundana Officers’ Mess Jaji, Nigeria. The CDS in his remarks emphasised the significance of the theme, stressing that the strength of families directly influences the overall security architecture of the nation. He commended the College for its innovations, particularly the Citizen Reporting Portal app and “A Day in the Life of a Soldier” initiative, describing them as programmes that will strengthen security management and deepen public understanding of the Armed Forces. He further reminded participants that contemporary security challenges are largely internal, requiring not only military efforts but also the active involvement of communities.

You will recall that the Exercise was declared open on 15 September 2025 by her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON CON the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, represented by the wife of the Vice President her Excellency, Hajiya Nana Shettima.

In his opening remarks, the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji, underscored the importance of family as the foundation of national stability, stating that strong families lead to strong communities, and strong communities lead to strong nations. He confirmed that preparations are already underway for the next edition, noting that Exercise HASKE BIYU 2026 will consolidate on the achievements of Exercise HASKE BIYU 2025.

Highlights of the ceremony includes the presentations of awards to participants and souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour as well as group photograph.

The CDS thereafter inspected the newly renovated Staff Duties Wing of the College and commissioned the newly constructed Kuliya Hall, named in honour of late Brigadier General Abdulrahma Kuliya who died in Service on 21 May 2021.
