Chief Of The Air Staff Launches Landmark Youth Empowerment Initiative To Shape Future Leaders
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has launched the Chief of the Air Staff Youth Empowerment Programme (CASYEP), a landmark initiative designed to equip young people within Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base communities with critical life skills, mentorship, vocational opportunities and pathways to self-reliance. Endorsed by the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, the programme was described as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future that aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Anthony Chukwuka, the Minister commended the NAF for complementing national efforts in youth empowerment through skills acquisition, education, innovation, leadership development and entrepreneurship.
Describing CASYEP as more than an empowerment programme, Air Marshal Aneke said it represents “the ignition of hope, the unlocking of latent potential and a renewed commitment to the welfare of Nigerian Air Force personnel and the future of their children and families.” Drawing from his personal experience of growing up in NAF barracks as the son of an Air Warrant Officer, the CAS noted that the initiative was inspired by the need to bridge opportunity gaps through structured skills acquisition, mentorship, educational support and career guidance. He called on parents, guardians and commanders to support the programme, stressing that it will nurture skilled, confident, self-reliant and purpose-driven young citizens while advancing the Federal Government’s youth empowerment and human capital development agenda.
The Chief of the Air Staff, who was accompanied at the event by his wife and President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA), Mrs Ngozi Aneke, commended all stakeholders for their support towards the successful launch of the initiative. Highlights of the ceremony included a welcome address by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal EK Gabkwet, an overview of the programme by the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal AA Martins, the screening of a documentary on CASYEP, the maiden CASYEP Side Chat featuring youth development experts, and the formal presentation of beneficiaries before the official inauguration of the programme by the Chief of the Air Staff. The initiative underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to the Chief of the Air Staff’s welfare-focused leadership by investing in the next generation of military families, strengthening family resilience, inspiring future leadership and reinforcing the belief that caring for its people remains fundamental to sustaining a highly motivated, professional and mission-ready force.
