COAS Literary Competition 2025: Young Writer and Artist Receive Cash Prizes

The Nigerian Army (NA) has rewarded outstanding students at the 2025 Edition of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary Competition, held on June 12, 2025.

The annual competition, aimed at promoting intellectual growth, stimulating creativity, and uncovering hidden talents in young Nigerians, drew participants from secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the six geopolitical zones.

At the award presentation ceremony, held on June 27, 2025, at Headquarters 1 Division, Kaduna, two students under the Division’s Area of Responsibility emerged winners in their respective categories.

Adeboye Ahmed of Little Scholars School, Malali, Kaduna, took 2nd place in the Primary Essay Category, receiving a cash prize of ₦100,000. While Ugwu Wisdom, a student of Building Technology at Kaduna State Polytechnic, emerged 3rd in the Tertiary Arts Category, receiving a cash prize of ₦200,000.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso, represented by Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, commended the initiative as a platform for nurturing leadership, patriotism, and intellectual excellence.

“This competition celebrates not only bravery and discipline but also the power of the written word,” he said.

He praised the COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and support in fostering academic excellence.

The event was attended by senior officers, commanders, and principal staff officers of the Division.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of cash awards to the winning students.
