COMEDY: Professor JohnBull – Selfie Stick

The emergence of smart phones and the social media platforms have no doubt accelerated the conversion of the entire world into a global village. But the downsides of such emergence may be far greater than the positive sides, given the abuse the instruments have been subjected to in contemporary times.

As the Season 2 of the Globacom-sponsored TV Drama Series, Professor Johnbull, enters its episode 3 today (Tuesday), the sitcom treats yet another social malady among the young generation; the abuse of smart phones.

Billed for airing on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 215 and NTA on Startimes today at 8.30pm, Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, who makes a cameo appearance on the Series as Chantel, brings to the fore the inherent dangers of abuse of smart phones and selfies.

Viewers of the moralistic TV Series will in the course of today’s episode be shown the various ways the young folks abuse these otherwise instruments of social integration and get counseled on how best to handle them. They will equally find the erudite scholar, Professor Johnbull’s counsel impeccable as he figures out the right uses of smart phones.

Globacom, the Executive Producers of the Series produced by one of Nigeria’s best movie makers, Tchidi Chikere, said in a statement that “the new episode is fittingly tagged Selfie Stick to underscore how serious the abuse of smart phones, social media platforms and the crave for selfie sticks among the young generation has become.”

“Episode 3 of your darling TV Series Professor Johnbull, is as didactic as it is humorous. It is one of our modest ways of stirring the conscience of our ever bubbling young generation to explore more the positive sides of the advancement the world has made in science and technology. It is an episode parents cannot afford to miss as it serves as a guide for all and sundry,” Globacom added.
The episode features regulars like Professor Johnbull, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Queen Nwokoye, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Mercy Johnson Okojie, Funky Mallam, Ime Okon, Bidemi Kosoko, Martins Neboh and Stephen Odimgbe.

A repeat broadcast of Selfie Stick, according to Globacom, comes up at the same time on Friday on the aforementioned channels.
