Commandant NASA Charges Graduands To Uphold Professionalism, Loyalty and Discipline As He Declares Second Quarter Course Closed

The Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), Major General Adam Adamu Wase Hassan, has charged the graduands of the Second Quarter Courses 2026 to remain steadfast in upholding the core values of professionalism, loyalty, and discipline as they proceed to their various units.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Maj Gen Hassan emphasized that the knowledge and competencies acquired throughout the course must serve as a compass for the graduands in both peace and conflict. He reminded them that the Nigerian Army places immense trust in their expertise to deliver precise, timely, and effective fire support—an essential requirement for mission success across all operational environments.

The Commandant further highlighted that physical efficiency constituted a critical pillar of the training programme. He expressed satisfaction that a significant number of the graduands exhibited commendable levels of endurance, resilience, and self-discipline from the beginning of the course to its conclusion. According to him, these attributes are indispensable for artillerymen who must consistently demonstrate strength, stamina, and mental fortitude in the execution of their duties.

Maj Gen Hassan congratulated the graduands and urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of NASA, reminding them that the Nigerian Army’s reputation for excellence depends on their conduct, competence, and unwavering commitment to duty.

“The physical assessments, endurance runs, and routine physical training sessions have collectively affirmed your readiness for field operations and the demanding nature of artillery duties,” he said.

Maj Gen Hassan further explained that training at NASA is anchored and built around his four strategic training pillars: realistic and innovative training, professional capacity building, character development, and enhanced regimentation. He noted that these pillars are deliberately designed to produce artillerymen who are not only technically proficient but also morally grounded and operationally dependable.

He commended those who distinguished themselves during the course, urging them not to become complacent but to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence. At the same time, he encouraged those who did not perform as strongly, assuring them that the Nigerian Army School of Artillery provides continuous opportunities for improvement through subsequent courses, exercises, and operational engagements. He reminded them that growth in the profession of arms is a continuous journey, and every soldier has the capacity to rise to higher standards with commitment and perseverance.

The Commandant expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for his strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Army’s training institutions. He also commended the Commander, Corps of Artillery, for providing essential technical guidance and ensuring that all training activities at NASA remain fully aligned with Corps-wide operational objectives and contemporary artillery requirements.

He further extended appreciation to the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army, whose oversight has been pivotal in maintaining a curriculum that is both robust and responsive to evolving operational realities. In the same vein, he acknowledged the consistent support of the Army Headquarters Department of Army Training (DAT), particularly in the areas of administration and logistics. According to him, the successful execution of the training cycle would not have been possible without DAT’s sustained facilitation and resource backing.

Maj Gen Hassan also lauded all consultants, instructors, and staff of the Nigerian Army School of Artillery for their dedication, professionalism, and tireless commitment to shaping the graduands into competent, disciplined, and mission-ready Gunners. He emphasized that their collective efforts continue to uphold NASA’s reputation as a premier institution for artillery training within the Nigerian Army. The efforts of the non instructional staff were also acknowledged.
