Commander 12 BDE Pays Courtesy Visit To Heads Of Security Agencies In Kogi State To Foster Interagency Cooperation and Collaboration

The Commander of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Isang Akpaumontia, embarked on a courtesy visit to key security agencies within Kogi State 31 May 2023, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and collaboration among the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Police. During the visit, the Commander assured the security agencies of his commitment to leveraging the already excellent relationship between the Brigade and the security agencies in Kogi State.

The courtesy visit began with a warm reception by Mr. Tosin Ajayi, the Director of the DSS Kogi State Command, at the DSS headquarters. Brig Gen Akpaumontia engaged in fruitful discussions with the Director, focusing on intelligence sharing, enhancing joint operations, and strengthening collective efforts to combat security challenges within Kogi State and its environs.

Following the successful meeting with the DSS Director, the Brigade Commander proceeded to the NSCDC headquarters, where he was received by Commandant Ahmad Ahmad Gandi of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi Command. Expressing his appreciation for the NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and maintaining peace and order, the Commander discussed closer coordination in intelligence gathering, training exercises, and joint operations to effectively address emerging security threats.

The final leg of the courtesy visit brought Brig Gen Akpaumontia to the Kogi State Police Command Headquarters, where he was warmly welcomed by Commissioner of Police Akeem Yusuf. Recognizing the crucial role played by the Police in maintaining law and order, the Brigade Commander emphasized the need for enhanced synergy between the military and the police force. They explored opportunities for joint training programs, information sharing, and cooperative efforts to tackle criminal activities.

Throughout each visit, the Brigade Commander expressed gratitude to the heads of the respective agencies for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the safety and security of the community. He emphasized the significance of unity among security agencies in the face of evolving security challenges.

In response, the heads of the DSS, NSCDC, and Police expressed their appreciation for the Commander’s visit, recognizing it as a testament to the military’s commitment to fostering interagency cooperation. They echoed their readiness to collaborate closely, pooling their expertise and resources for the greater benefit of the citizens.
