
Commander 14 Brigade Conducts Maiden Operational Visit To 144 Battalion, Charges Troops To Sustain Operations Tempo
In a continued efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and sustain security within the South-East region, the Commander 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko, conducted a maiden operational visit to 144 Battalion Headquarters (Rear) under the ongoing Operation Eastern Sanity.
Upon arrival, the Commander and his entourage were received by the Commanding Officer (Rear) Major IS Mekwunye. During the visit, General Dikko was briefed on the operational activities of the unit and the general security situation across the battalion’s Area of Responsibility.
Addressing officers and soldiers of the battalion, the Brigade Commander commended troops for their commitment to maintaining security and stability within their operational environment. He emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism and operational readiness in the discharge of their constitutional duties. Brigadier General Dikko further charged personnel to remain vigilant and sustain ongoing operational efforts aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of action within the area.
Brigadier General AM Dikko also seized the opportunity to address members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA) 144 Bn chapter, the Commander, expressed appreciation for the warm welcome accorded to him and thanked them for their resilience in defending the home front while supporting their spouses in discharging their duties also noting their continued support to the leadership of the Brigade. He reiterated the importance of unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual support among residents of the barracks community.
Earlier, he encouraged troops to continue exhibiting high level of professionalism in order to enhance both the physical and mental alertness required for effective operations urging personnel to promote peaceful coexistence with their families and barracks community, stressing that unity and harmony among soldiers and their families remain essential for improved morale and operational efficiency.
As part of activities marking the visit the Commander inspected ongoing construction of the unit’s military reception station (MRS) within the barracks, where he assessed the level of progress on the project aimed at improving educational facilities for children of military personnel.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by 14 Brigade Nigerian Army to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen leadership engagement with troops and sustain the prevailing security stability within the formation’s Area of Responsibility in line with the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu (NAM) command philosophy which is to advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional adaptable combat ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint Multi-Agency Environment.
