Commander 22 Armoured Brigade Decorates Promoted Officers, Emphasizes Discipline

The Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, has decorated two officers recently elevated from the rank of Captain to Major. The ceremony was held on 16 September 2025 at the Brigade Headquarters Conference Room, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Barkins expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for finding the officers worthy of promotion. He charged the newly promoted Majors to embody discipline, remain loyal, and serve as role models to their subordinates in hard work and dedication.
“Make sure you always do the right thing because your subordinates are looking up to you,” he advised.

The officers decorated with their new ranks were Major Muhammad Alhussain and Major Emmanuel Otobong.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Major Otobong expressed gratitude to the COAS for the elevation, pledging to discharge their duties with renewed vigour, professionalism, and commitment to the Nigerian Army.

Highlights of the event included the formal decoration of the officers, words of counsel from senior officers, as well as group photographs with dignitaries, family members, friends, and well wishers who attended the occasion.
