Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma Pays Maiden Operational Visit To 1 Division, Stresses The Importance Of Inter-Agency Cooperation

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, received the Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF OPFY), Major General Oluyinka Soyele, and his entourage on operational visit to Headquarters Sector 1 OPFY in Kaduna. The visit underscored the ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements within the Sector’s operational area of responsibility.

Earlier , the GOC/Commander Sector 1 OPFY, Major General Saraso, welcomed the TC to the Sector’s Operations Room and thereafter presented a comprehensive overview of the Sector’s operational activities, highlighting the successes achieved under his command, as well as the challenges being confronted by troops in the field. He emphasized the crucial role of effective command principles in securing victories against adversaries.

In his remarks, the TC Major General Oluyinka Soyele noted that the visit provided an opportunity to engage with key commanders and assess areas requiring support. He commended the GOC and his team for their unwavering commitment and collaborative efforts in maintaining security within the Sector’s area of operational responsibility.

He further stressed the importance of inter-agency cooperation in curbing crime and praised the contributions of the Sub-Sector Commanders under command. He also attributed the significant reduction in banditry and terrorism to their coordinated efforts, highlighting the operational approach that combines both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies alongside synergy with other security agencies.

The TC urged the GOC to sustain Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) efforts, including free medical outreach programmes and educational support to schools. He cautioned against losing military equipment to adversaries and assured that additional operational vehicles and manpower would be solicited to enhance the Sector’s capabilities.

The brief was attended by Principal Staff Officers from both the Theatre Command and the Division Headquarters, as well as Formation, Component and Sub-Sector Commanders. Highlights of the visit included the signing of visitors’ book and group photographs.
