Commander NATRAC Graduates Troops Of Pre-Development Training Batch 2, Urges Them To Display Courage and Gallantry In Facing The Adversary

The Commander Nigerian Army Training Center (NATRAC), Major General AGL Haruna earlier today 13 March 2026 graduated troops of Pre-Deployment Training from NATRAC Kontagora.

In his address the Commander stressed the need for troops to be adequately trained to defeat any untowards situation emanating from any adversay, considering the fluid, multifaceted and complex nature of the present security environment in the Country, especially the North East. He stated that the training being provided by NATRAC is in line with the NATRAC mission statement, which is to “To conduct a realistic mission-specific training on a variety of current and future operations in order to provide troops with requisite combat proficiency skills”.

The Commander said a total of 632 soldiers generated for the second phase of Nigerian Army Rotation Plan 2026 in Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hardin Kai Theatre are expected to be part of the troops to confront the complexities of increasing dynamic and ever evolving security landscape with utmost ruthlessness. He stated that the day and night training which they underwent involved physical fitness building, close quater marksmanship, obstacle crossing, convoy drills, counter ambush drills, house clearance, patrols and tactical Medical Evacuation. Others included ground sign awarness, counter Improvised Explosive Devices training, mountain warfare, base camp security, communication and hostage rescue.

Major General Haruna said the training scenario reflected realism in order to prepare the trainees to combat contemporary security threats. He stated that the various night training activities were designed to upscale their capacity to conduct night operations and dominate the night as well as periods of poor visibility. Stating that the training is in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, which is “To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more Professional,Adaptable, Combat Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-agency Environment “.

The Commander congratulated the trainees for their perseverance and endurance throughout the period of training. He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his unwavering support and strategic guidance to the Centre.

Earlier while delivering the training highlights, the Acting Director Soldiers Professional Training Directorate Colonel IS Shah, stated that the course curricular covered intense physical training, live firing both day and night, convoy drills and aspects of first aid. He said that, these will surely go a long way in enabling the troops carry out their professional duties when finally deployed in the field.

The event was attended by the Commander Corps of Artillery Major General JO Adeyemo who was ably represented by the Chief of Staff Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery Brigedier General JN Garba and commanding officers of sub-units.

Highlights of the events was unarmed combat display and tug of war to the cheering of all those present to witness the occasion and group photographs to bring the event to a close.
