Community Policing Committee Visits 6 Division Garrison, Solicits For Cooperation
The Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC), Rivers State, Bishop(Dr) Moses Omokhuale led members of his committee on a courtesy visit to the Commander 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army/Commander Sector 3, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Edet Effiong at his office, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State, where he solicited for coopration.
Bishop Moses Omokhuale, while making his remarks stated that he was at 6 Division Garrison to seek for cooperation and also support the good work the Nigerian Army is doing in Rivers State, which he said, brought about the peaceful atmosphere resonating across the State. The committee he said, will continue to support the Nigerian Army in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.
Responding, Brigadier General Edet Effiong assured the committee that the relationship between 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army and PCRC will continue to blossom for good. This is because, both parties need each other in creating a peaceful environment, where social and economic activities will thrive.
The Garrison Commander, further reiterated that there is nothing as good as having a peaceful environment, calling on all stakeholders to work collectively in the area of information sharing on the activities of criminals elements in the state and environs. “These criminals live in the society, as such people know them and must be willing to expose them for us to have a crime free society, where peace will reign” he said.
Brigadier General Effiong further added that, periodically, the Nigerian Army has been conducting civil-military relations activities, aimed at winning the heart and minds of the people in the society. This will boost public confidence and provide the necessary support for military operations to succeed, he affirmed.
