
Competition About Building Camaraderie, Fostering Espirit-De-Corps and and Physical Fitness – GOC Restates
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah has officially flagged off the 6 Division Inter-Brigade Ball Games for the Year 2025. While flagging, the GOC restated that the Competition is not only about winning, but building camaraderie, fostering esprit-de-corps and promoting physical strength amongst troops. He made this known at 6 Division Physical football pitch in Port Harcourt Barracks on 14 April 2025.
Speaking further, the GOC, who was represented by the Commander, 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed noted that the Competition reflects the strength, strategy, and spirit of the Division, describing it as a platform for fostering camaraderie and enhancing the operational fitness of the troops.
Major General Emekah, while commending the organizers, encouraged the participants to uphold the highest standard of sportsmanship and respect. He expressed confidence that the performances would not only inspire others, but essentially showcase the Division’s unmatched competence and unity of purpose. He further
urged all the participating formations and units to demonstrate excellence, discipline, and unity throughout the event.
Earlier, the Commanding Officer, 6 Division Garrison Admin Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Orobosa Igheghe described the Competition as a vital avenue for promoting physical wellness, discipline, and esprit de corps among soldiers. He noted that the event would also assist in identifying top athletes who will eventually represent the Division in the upcoming higher-level Competitions. He showered encomiums on all the participating formations and urged them to compete with fairness and integrity.
The week-long competition will feature Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Handball matches. The formations participating in the competition are 2 Brigade, 16 Brigade, 63 Brigade and 6 Division Garrison.
